Are ISPs a new type of Utility Providers?
Considering that they now offer Software as a Service, Cloud Computing in addition in addition to many other services like search, maps, emailing, etc. the answer is objectively YES for most of them. But, I would say that some of them should be called Futility Providers... For example: Facebook and Second Life.
However, futile instants are necessary to our life!
In particular, futility also means: fun, games, entertainments, free discussions about nothing, and all those negligible events, which also contribute to fill our existence… The great numbers of mash-ups, continuously enriched by individuals, communities and software editors allow any user to add futile and utile functionalities to their interface.
Futility Providers are definitely necessary to the World Wild Web 3.0 and beyond.
This post is just a summer night thought…
